TYPES OF NATURAL HAZARDS

 

What is natural hazards?

When extreme natural features become dangerous to people and their properties, such features are called natural hazards.

Types of natural hazards?

1. Meteorological

e.g. Flood, drought, avalanche, blizzard, frost, typhoon.

2. Geological

e.g. volcanic erruption, earthquake, tsunami, landslide.

3. Biological

e.g. insect pest, disease

However, some hazards and diasters result from human interference with the ecosystems. This types of hazard is known as human-induced hazard.
